A meeting was held between Istanbul Gelisim University and Baghdad University in Iraq, Mustantsiriyah University and Al Hikma University within the scope of the development of Turkey-Iraq relations and the establishment of various collaborations.
Istanbul Gelisim University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan, Head of Public Relations and Promotion Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Bülent Deyirmenci and Educator Ferhat Şahin visited Baghdad University, which ranked 1st in Iraq in the Webometrics ranking, Mustantsiriyah University and Al Hikma University, which ranked 3rd. In addition to meeting with the Rector, Vice Rectors and Senate Members of the Ministry of Higher Education of Iraq and three universities in Iraq; Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan gave an interview to Mustantsiriyah University Television and made statements about IGU and possible academic collaborations.
Important steps have been taken for the development of relations between Türkiye and Iraq
Istanbul Gelisim University, which progressed with the vision of "Research University", ranked 2329th among the world universities in the second half of 2023 in Webometrics World University Rankings, and 56th among 209 Higher Education institutions in Türkiye. Continuing its rise in the World University Rankings of Webometrics in the last three years, IGU has achieved success on a global scale with its breakthroughs in the scientific, technological and cultural fields and has established collaborations and projects in the international arena. In this context, IGU, which interviewed prominent universities in the Webometrics World University Rankings in Iraq, took important steps for the development of relations between Turkey and Iraq.
In the interviews on bilateral cooperation, scientific studies and student-academician transfers; in addition to the equivalence issue applied by Istanbul Gelisim University, which has 750 Iraqi students, for all Iraqi students who have entered as of 2023, visa problems of Iraqi and Turkish students were discussed with the Responsible Consul at the Turkish Embassy.
