The sports community came together at the "100 Stakeholders Meet at Gelisim on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic" event!

The "100 Stakeholders Meet at Gelisim on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic" event was held by Istanbul Gelisim University School of Physical Education and Sports. Representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Istanbul Provincial Directorate and District Directorates of Youth and Sports, local governments, federations, sports clubs, private sector representatives and athletes participated in the organization.

Famous names from the world of sports met with academicians and students at the "100 Stakeholders Meet at Gelisim on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic" event organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) School of Physical Education and Sports. The event started with the presentation of Lect. Tekmil Sezen Göksu, Deputy Director of Istanbul Gelisim University School of Physical Education and Sports. IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Soyal stated that they were happy to host such an event and host valuable names. National Wrestler Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu and National Volleyball Player Neslihan Demir took part in the panel titled "Champion Women of the Republic". Hatayspor Coach Volkan Demirel and NutSpor Speaker Nebil Evren participated in the panel titled "Those Who Make a Difference in Sports". At the end of the event, the "Volleyball Honor Award" was presented to Neslihan Demir, the "Female Athlete of the Year Award" to Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu, and the "Sportsman of the Year Award" to Volkan Demirel.

More than 100 stakeholders of Istanbul Gelisim University School of Physical Education and Sports participated in the "100 Stakeholders Meet at Gelisim on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic" organization. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Soyal, Director of Istanbul Gelisim University School of Physical Education and Sports, stated that they held the event with the motto "We Are Chasing Our Country's Dreams" and added the following, "As a school, one of our most important goals is to train qualified human resources for the real sector, as well as to carry out the scientific studies needed by the sports sector and to contribute to the field by following the developing technology. With this awareness of duty, I would like to say that we aim to serve our country by collaborating with institutions and organizations that directly or indirectly serve the field of sports.”

“I want to win a gold medal for our country in the Olympics”

The first session was held with the theme of "Champion Women of the Republic" with the participation of National Wrestler Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu and National Volleyball Player Neslihan Demir. Referring to the difficulties of being an athlete as a woman, National Wrestler Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu remarked: “I can say that being an athlete as a woman is difficult, being a wrestler is even more difficult. We are exposed to incredibly tiring training. Each branch has its own difficulties, but in wrestling there are moments when our pulse rises to 180-200. Wrestling is the branch of sports that brings the most medals to Turkey. We are fighting for a single goal and flag for our country.’’ National Volleyball Player Neslihan Demir, on the other hand, “I owe a great debt to Turkish sports. If I'm here today, it's thanks to volleyball. I am who I am thanks to my discipline and patience.”

Participating in the panel titled "Those Who Make a Difference in Sports", Hatayspor Coach Volkan Demirel and NutSpor Speaker Nebil Evren met with the students. Making a statement about his coaching career, Hatayspor Coach Volkan Demirel: “I see myself as an educator. I try to draw a path with what I have learned from my own experiences, the positive or negative events I encounter in my life. My aim is to support them in their football life.’’

“Those Who Add Value to Turkish Sports Award” was presented

At the end of the panels, awards were presented to those who added value to Turkish sports. President of the Turkish University Sports Federation Prof. Dr. Mehmet Günay, President of the Turkish Athletics Federation Fatih Çintimar, President of the Special Athletes Sports Federation of Turkey Birol Aydın, General Secretary of the Turkish Ice Hockey Federation Osame Furkan Akkurt, General Secretary of the Turkish Sports for All Federation Osman Gülen, Former National Athlete Merve Aydın, Başakşehir Municipality Youth and Sports Services Manager Selim Çelebi, Turkish Jockey Club Board Member Gülnur Gülerce, İ.T.Ü. Sports Club President Harun Erdenay, Turkish National Paralympic Committee Secretary General İbrahim Gümüşdal and Olympic Medalist Prof. Dr. Malik Beyleroğlu were presented with the "Those Who Add Value to Turkish Sports Award".
