"I Became a Mother" Project Implemented: Support for Mothers from Bakırköy Municipality and Istanbul Gelisim University

The cooperation protocol signed between Bakırköy Municipality and Istanbul Gelisim University, covering academic, scientific and educational fields, took its first concrete step with the social responsibility project titled "I Became a Mother". The project was implemented in accordance with the protocol signed in the office of Mayor of Bakırköy Assoc. Prof. Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu.

Prof. Ali Karaağaç, VSHS Health Institutions Management Program Head Lect. Ebru Cengiz and the academic authors of the booklet prepared within the scope of the project participated.

"I became a mother" booklet and diaper bag were prepared

Within the scope of the project, the "I Became a Mother" booklet prepared by SHMYO academicians was designed to guide mothers who have just given birth. The booklet contains comprehensive information about the points that mothers should pay attention to before and after birth, the situations they may encounter physically and psychologically, and the conscious motherhood process.
The booklet will be delivered free of charge to mothers in need, with basic supplies for baby care and a "diapers bag" containing special products for the needs of the mother after birth. With this application, it is aimed to provide an informative resource and to make mothers feel that they are not alone.

Purpose of the project: Conscious and strong mothers

The main purpose of the "I Became a Mother" project is to support mothers to raise their babies consciously from birth, to provide moral and psychological support to mothers, especially during this period of intense hormonal changes, and to guide mothers to return to their normal lives in a healthy way as soon as possible.

Training programs are planned

In the later stages of the project, it is planned to organize training programs for mothers who give birth in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University. In these trainings; basic topics such as bonding with the baby after birth, breastfeeding, mental health management will be discussed. Thus, it is aimed that mothers become stronger not only physically but also emotionally and socially.

Istanbul Gelisim University continues to lead projects that especially affect health, education and family life within the framework of its understanding of social responsibility. The university not only produces academic knowledge, but also acts with the vision of transforming this knowledge for the benefit of society.

IGU aims to support the empowerment of the individual and society by making scientific, sensitive and sustainable contributions to the motherhood process, which is one of the most sensitive periods of life, through projects such as "I Became a Mother".
